Nurture Aqua Technology organizes seminars on “Innovation and Trends in Shrimp Hatchery and Farm Production.”
Mumbai based Nurture Aqua Technology Pvt. Ltd., the exclusive distributor of Epicore in India and Bangladesh organized seminars on “Innovation and Trends in Shrimp Hatchery and Farming production” at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh and Marakkanam in Tamil Nadu for the benefit of the Shrimp farming Industry in India. The event at Kakinada was conducted at the Pragnya convention on the 28th August and the one at Marakkanam was held at the Ocean Spray Resort on the 30th August 2022.
Mr. Anushrav Gulati, Director of Nurture Aqua Technology Pvt. Ltd. addressed and hosted the Seminar. Mr. Fernando Castro, Asia Technical Sales Manager of Epicore Bionetworks was the main speaker during these programmes. Mr. Gulati & Mr. Castro spoke about innovative and environmentally responsible biotechnology products and specialty animal feeds for Aquaculture being offered for sale in India by Nurture. The product lines are based on natural microbes and enzymes and have applications in aquaculture, cleaning and sanitation, food processing and nutrition, wastewater, pollution control and environmental remediation.
In his exhaustive presentation, with the same title as the seminar, Mr. Fernando covered all the key technical aspects of the global shrimp aquaculture sector. Beginning his presentation by discussing the trends in shrimp broodstock genetic lines and nauplii production centres, he mentioned that fast growth lines were becoming more popular in intensive and controlled production systems. The SPF slow growth lines were also popular for their disease resistance and high survival rate in grow-out farms. He added that the new trend across the world is the establishment of highly biosecure “Nauplii production centres” that produce nauplii from various broodstock lines and supply to hatchery operators according to their requirements. These have already become popular in Ecuador, Vietnam, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, he added. Hatcheries across the world are also upgrading themselves on technology. Open sky systems are being tried by Ecuadorian hatcheries and several Asian hatcheries are establishing ultrafiltration systems for enhanced biosecurity. Artemia production centers were also gaining in popularity, supplying clean, disease free artemia nauplii to hatchery operators. The presentation also discussed the Increasing popularity of Nursery systems across Asia, with the key elements for success being proper Infrastructure, technology, adequate reservoirs, filtration systems, aeration & staff; use of probiotics; opting for higher stocking densities of PLs to maintain water quality; reduce organics for optimum environment conditions to keep a healthy animal; use of better quality feeds for optimal nutrition and also to minimize their impact in water quality; and most importantly proper technology for transferring the animals to the grow out ponds in order to minimize stress. Advanced farming technologies adopted across Asia including Hyper Intensive systems in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Indonesia were also discussed in the presentation which was highly beneficial to the attendees of the seminar.
Mr. Fernando then elaborated on the specifications, key features and benefits of various products being offered by Nurture used in Hatcheries and Farms which included “Epizym AGP” – an algae growth promoter media, Epifeed LHF & Epilite Emulsion Liquid Feeds; Probiotics for Hatchery – Epicin Hatchery, Epicin D, Epicin 3W as well as Probiotics such as Epicin Farm, Epicin D and Epicin 3W for nurseries and farms. Apart from Mr. Fernando & Mr. Anushrav Gulati, Director, Nurture Aqua Technology, Mr. Purushothaman, Associated Scientific Company Kakinada, and Mr. Mathialagan, Aquabios Enterprises, Marakkanam were present during the seminar. The seminar received a good response from the hatchery operators, technicians as well as farmers with over 150 participants each attending the seminars at Kakinada and Marakkanam.
